Octopus

I follow a very cool Instagram account by the name of OctoNation, and account that is all about octopi art and media. They posted a very cool sculpture of an octopus that really highlighted the eyes, and it inspired me to draw this.

I wanted to use the wash as a background element so the stark contrast would really foreground the octopus. The wash also makes an appropriate background for the octopus, who is able to squirt ink.

Krampus Season!

Grüß vom Krampus! That’s German for “greetings from the Krampus!” My favorite holiday mascot is the non-denominational “Krampus,” a demon that punishes naughty children during the solstice. Originally from Austria, the Krampus has spread not only to other German speaking countries, but the world over. Thank Krampus!

To celebrate Krampus season, I have made my own Krampus design that is available for purchase at my Society6 store. What better way to ring in the holiday season than by donning the raiments of the holiday avenger?

I also show other versions of my design below the final version. Grüß vom Krampus, Freunden!

Gh-gh-ghoooosts!

I have been getting into ink wash lately, and it turns out to be an excellent medium for rendering ghosts.

I applied a color layer to all of these ghosts except for the doll monster in the bottom right, who has only had his levels adjusted.ghosts
