Cover of a Cover

My friend and writing partner is putting out the first chapter of his comic, and I have done the cover for him. He gave me a lot of artistic freedom (but not a lot of time), so I went with the cover of the classic EC cover that so enraged Frederic Wertham and other 1950s denizens.

Sci-Fi San Francisco

I’m pleased to announce that I will be a part of an anthology done by my colleague Lauren Davis. Called SciFi San Francisco, this anthology is a collection of science-fiction comics set in the Bay Area. Lauren has done a great job of curating this anthology, and I cannot wait for it to come out. I do not have a definite release date as of this writing, but I will keep everyone abreast of changes!

My piece is called For Rent, and it is about inter-dimensional realty as a solution to the current housing situation in the Bay Area.

I worked on For Rent with my friend Eric Wong. You may remember him from our comic Kentucky Killzone, which is available on Gumroad here.

To whet your appetites, here’s the first page of my story For Rent!

New Years Projects!

Happy New Years, Friends!
Oh, how I wish these gaps between posts would subside, but alas, delicate adventures has me busier than an egg with arms and legs. Speaking of which, I just attended Newcon in Portland, Oregon. I peddled my guides to jerks, nerds, and rasslin’. Why just look at all these volumes!

What else have I been working on, you say? I’ve been making pretty good headway on my thesis for my MFA program. In doing so, I’ve been getting more acquainted with brush pens, which I’ve come to love. Here’s a panel from my thesis.

And here’s a self portrait I did with a different brush pen and ink wash:

And as far as design projects go, I’ve made some pretty neat molds. A while ago, I made a ceramic devil head, and I just recently got around to casting it! The horns and the face are separate molds, and I paint the eyes. I want to put hardware in the back and make it into a belt buckle.

Ink Wash

Hey y’all, I have been in grad school for the last month, and it was heaven! Good peeps, bad language, and tons of drawing! I’ve never felt so at home with a group of people. We had a great tools and techniques course and I started to learn how to do ink wash. It’s too much fun!
