Yes, friends, my second boar head is almost finished. I have fired it, and assembled it, but I want to glaze it. I’ll need to take it apart to do that, but I just wanted to see it whole so badly. I also got to take a great creepy picture of me and the boar (bottom).
Perhaps drawing unflattering portraits is fun for the same reason that wearing old clothes can be fun. These are mainly humans, but there is a baby orangutan that was so hideous, I tried to capture it. I think it’s second to last.
I finally got around to making a silicone mold of a toy buffalo head, from which I cast a quick drying poly-urethane resin. The buffalo head itself came out pretty well, but I had a tiny mounting that did not come out well at all. It looks like a ravaged block of cheese.
